It is the multiplicity of
systems, and coinciding relationships between such systems, embedded within the
urban and rural fabrics that I find most fascinating. I am also intrigued in the instrumental use of architecture,
landscaping, and planning as a means of achieving various levels of
sustainability. Through our investigation of the typical suburban housing
condition across Sarpy County, we hope to bring about the ramifications of such
developments and the variables at play.

Being from a rural
community in Northeast Nebraska, I am highly interested in the role the housing
industry plays in the development of our cities and how it impacts the growth
of our communities.

Housing is currently an
important and interesting subject being examined by professionals across
multiple fields. It has drawn my
interest due to suburbia’s critical role in achieving sustainability. This subject also benefits my current
studies in my studio course, as we attempt to envision a more thorough
prototypical model of housing in urban fringe and suburban areas.
